Their commitment to one another and to their Hempstead community has created a lasting impact on the residents of Nassau County. The teachings of entrepreneurship, hard work ethic, and a strong faith were instilled in both Christopher  and Cynthia long before they would have a chance to meet. Soon friends would become lovers, and after a few dates, they knew they “would do business together.” Together they would become one of Hempstead’s most powerful couples.

From Upscale Barber shop and Beauty salon, the seed was born to build more in this industry. Christopher knew that this was an opportunity for innovation. Never having worked for anyone other than himself, Darnell wanted to share the experience of true liberation and provide that opportunity to other men and women. Leaping into faith in May 2004, Christopher came to Cynthia and told her of his master plan. He wanted to open a barbering school.” Nothing could break the bond that God put together in Hempstead a few years earlier. Cynthia gave up her 6 figure income and fully walked in faith with her husband. Christopher and Cynthia,  went to work, building opportunity and extending the teachings of their upbringings through barbering and beauty education. Their love and commitment to one another, continues to fuel each one’s passion to unite people through education and guidance, making this relationship almost surreal.

Together they succeed and together they go to battle, but as a power couple they appreciate their capability to do it in love. They are committed to making a better life for their daughters, while showing them the workings of a loving and caring relationship built through faith. Their legacy is to leave their family with abundance and a lack of nothing. They make no move or decision without the other, moving in almost a graceful synchronization. What one lacks the other is able to provide. As many successful entrepreneurs know, going at it alone can be daunting, but when you align two successful individuals and combine them in purpose and love, the greatness is twofold. As they walk across many stages,  Christopher gently holding Cynthia’s hand, she seals his exchange with a kiss, symbolizing that their successes, big or small, are celebrated together. Barbering Institute, newly named the Barber & Beauty Institute of New York, continues to grow and expand, so did Christopher and Cynthia Felder. The opportunities brought about from their hard work have fostered the birth even more partnerships, businesses, and even more organizations. Both Christopher and Cynthia are members of the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS)and serve on the New York School Board of Education.

In the city that never sleeps, there is a school that always learns, and a couple that always loves. The epitome of a true power couple, Christopher  and Cynthia Felder; committed to their family, committed to their purpose, and committed to each other.
